New Canaan, Connecticut - August 10, 2011 - Bridge Foundation, the New Canaan, Connecticut based humanitarian relief organization announced it is delivering essential drugs, medical supplies and nutritionals to the millions affected by the unprecedented Drought in East Africa.   Eastern Africa as a region is experiencing what has been described by OCHA (UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) as the "most severe food crisis in the world today", with at least 10 million people affected in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Uganda.  

Bridge Foundation has been working in Ethiopia for more than two years.  Due to the increasing severity of the drought, Bridge Foundation plans to drastically increase aid to Ethiopia and Kenya.  The sixth Ethiopia shipment this year is scheduled in the coming days.  We are also planning expanded shipments into Kenya including the Dadaab Camp and affected areas in the north coastal region.

Bridge Foundation was founded in 2002 and has provided emergency aid to  Afghanistan, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gaza, Grenada, Haiti, Indonesia, Iraq, Iraq-Kurdistan, Jamaica, Jordan, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Myanmar, North Korea, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, St. Lucia, Sudan-Darfur, Syria, Tunisia, Uganda, Zimbabwe , Alabama (Hurricane Ivan), Appalachia (Kentucky & West Virginia), Florida (Hurricane Charlie & Frances), Illinois (Flooding), Louisiana (Hurricane Katrina & Gustav), Mississippi (Hurricane Katrina),St. Croix (Hurricane Earl),Texas (Hurricane Rita & Ike). Bridge Foundation is an IRS registered 501©(3) tax exempt organization.
