New Canaan, CT – Bridge Foundation began its response to the recent devastating weather that has claimed more than 295 lives across the Southern United States. The Tuscaloosa area has approximately 300,000 residents without power according to AP. Initial efforts will be two truckloads of water. One truck was delivered this afternoon to the Tuscaloosa Fire andRescue Service (TFRS). The rescue workers and volunteers that are providing search and rescue operations will utilize the water. The second truckload was delivered to the Tuscaloosa City Hall. The water will be distributed by the Tuscaloosa Police Department to more than 500 victims intemporary shelters located at four different parks and recreation centers. In total, nearly 75,000 bottles of water was delivered today. Additional supplies areplanned for delivery in the coming days. Bridge Foundation was founded in 2002 and has provided emergency aid to Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan (Darfur), Chad, Congo, Dominican Republic,Grenada, Haiti, Indonesia, Jamaica and Lebanon.
