Bridge Foundation delivers Humanitarian airlift to Jamaica

Miami, Florida - Bridge Foundation, the New Canaan, Connecticut based humanitarian relief organization announced it delivered a humanitarian flight to assist the victims of Hurricane Ivan.  This was the fifth humanitarian relief mission to Hurricane-Ravaged Areas.

"Bridge Foundation is proud to deliver much needed supplies to help the people of Jamaica during this difficult time," said Drew Hannah, Bridge Foundation Chairman.

 

The airlift departed on Thursday, September 23rd at 10:00 a.m. from AmeriJet International Airlines, a long time transport provider to Bridge Foundation and other International relief organizations.  The flight delivered more than 50,000 pounds of disaster relief including rice, beans, cooking oil, powdered milk, infant formula, diapers, jerry cans, mosquito control materials, and geodesic tents capable of housing families of up to six people each.

Jamaica's Director General of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management met the airlift and helped to ensure the rapid deployment  of supplies to the areas most in need.

Bridge Foundation principals, Stephen Skakel and Andrew Hannah were on the ground in Kingston, Jamaica and  Miami, Florida respectively, to oversee the distribution of the shipment.

This donation marked the fifth in a series of projects to assist communities battered by the history setting hurricane season of 2004.  Through Diageo's generosity and support, Bridge Foundation has responded in rapid succession to Florida and Alabama communities devastated by Hurricane's Charley, Frances and Ivan.  Additionally, Bridge Foundation has airlifted more than 100,000 pounds of humanitarian assistance to the people of Grenada and Jamaica following Ivan's destructive path.



Bridge Foundation was founded in 2002 and has provided emergency aid to Afghanistan, Iraq, Congo, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Indonesia, Jamaica and Lebanon. Bridge Foundation has also assisted domestically in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana and West Virginia.   Bridge Foundation is an IRS registered 501©(3) tax exempt organization.
