Bridge Foundation Announces Immediate Mobilization to Respond to Approaching Hurricane Rita

Update: Bridge Foundation Announces Immediate Mobilization to Respond to Approaching Hurricane Rita Prior to Landing on the Texas Coast.

New Canaan, CT – Bridge Foundation is responding to the threat that Hurricane Rita is imposing on the Texas coast.  An advance team will arrive Friday morning into Houston, Texas to monitor the approaching storm.  Initial response efforts will include providing high capacity generators to local emergency authorities.  The generators are currently in transit to Houston, Texas.

 

Bridge Foundation principal, Stephen Skakel, will be on the ground in Texas overseeing the delivery and installation of the electrical generation systems along with volunteers from Norwalk-based Diageo North America, the world’s leading premium Drinks Company.

Through Diageo’s generosity and support, Bridge Foundation responded to Hurricane Katrina just hours after the storm abated, and in rapid succession to last year’s Hurricanes Charley, Frances and Ivan throughout communities in Florida and Alabama.  Additionally, Bridge Foundation airlifted more than 100,000 pounds of humanitarian assistance to the people of Grenada and Jamaica following Ivan’s destructive path.


Bridge Foundation was founded in 2002 and has provided emergency aid to Afghanistan, Iraq, Congo, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Indonesia, Jamaica and Lebanon. Bridge Foundation has also assisted domestically in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana and West Virginia.   Bridge Foundation is an IRS registered 501©(3) tax exempt organization.
