Connecticut Foundation staff arrive in Lebanon

Update:  New Canaan’s Bridge Foundation delivering assistance to Lebanon in response to those affected by the ensuing conflict.

New Canaan, CT – Bridge Foundation, the New Canaan, Connecticut-based humanitarian relief organization announced it’s staff members have arrived in Larnaca, Cyprus and Beirut, Lebanon.  They will be assisting with evacuations and assessing the situation for upcoming relief shipments.

 

Lebanon had been struggling to get back on its feet after more than twenty years of civil war that has devastated the country. Great strides had been made after the April 2005 ‘Cedar Revolution’ in getting Lebanon on the path to freedom and development.  With more than 500,000 refugees remaining in Lebanon from the civil war has caused great strain on the healthcare infrastructure to the point of collapse.  The current round of fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters in the south have set Lebanon back decades.

"Bridge Foundation is proud to aid the people of Lebanon during this difficult time," said Andrew Hannah, Bridge Foundation Managing Director.  


Bridge Foundation was founded in 2002 and has provided emergency aid to Afghanistan, Iraq, Congo, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Indonesia, Jamaica and Lebanon. Bridge Foundation has also assisted domestically in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana and West Virginia.   Bridge Foundation is an IRS registered 501©(3) tax exempt organization.
